Slow Foxtrot Studio

Studio Home Page
There is a saying that "if you can understand and dance slow foxtrot, you have become a dancer." I personally agree.

Professional dancers would like saying Slow Foxtrot is the most beautiful dance in the Ballroom section. If I can do a foxtrot with a partner of my choice, I feel it has everything in it, the alignments, the swing, perfect footwork, the flight and all elements of Technique to the utmost detail.

And at the same time they say that "Slow Foxtrot is the most difficult dance in Ballroom section and should be left only for experts and competitors"... I totally disagree, there 's no difficulty at all if you follow the instructions. People who came with some doubt , became expert in my class.

Stand upright with your feet together. You will be walking forward. Count aloud and step to the rhythm: slow-slow-slow-slow, or step-pause-step-pause-step-pause-step-pause. Here’s what the chart would look like:

Man's Steps

Step1
Stand on your right foot with your left foot free in closed dance position.
Step2
On counts one, two (say “slow”--two beats), take a step forward onto your left foot, and then brush your right foot to your left.
Step3
On count three (say “quick”--one beat), step to the side on your right foot.
Step4
On count four (say “quick”), bring your left foot to your right and change weight to the left foot.
Step5
On count five, six (say “slow”), step back onto your right foot, and then brush your left foot to your right.
Step6
On count seven (say “quick”), step to the side on your left foot.
Step7
On count eight (say “quick”), bring your right foot to your left and change weight to the right foot.
Step8
Repeat.
